The first comprehensive list of families and species of the Hemiptera-Heteroptera (bugs) fauna from Palestina is that of Bodenheimer's "Prodromus Faunae Palestinae" 1937. Bodenheimer's list contains 33 families and 477 species. In 1960 Linnavuori published his article on the Hemiptera of Israel, following an expedition in the area in 1958. He mentions 36 families and 697 species. Our collections include material from the Hebrew University, collected by Bodenheimer, Amitai and Wahrman, as well as material collected by our own staff, and several unidentified species from abroad (mainly Africa). In his publication “Faune de France”, Pericart mentions records sent to him from our collection.
